During the year we were pleased to assist the church at Ulverston with a grant towards a major redesign project of their chapel, involving the outdated toilets. The old creche room was turned into new toilets with disabled and baby changing facilities, and a shower room. Clever utilization of the space left room for a new small meeting room too.
The church writes: "The Church is thankful to the Lord, his people and GBTC for the funding to be able to make a significant start on our building refurbishment. The first stage is now complete and includes a new smaller meeting/creche room, two new toilets and a new disabled toilet & wet room with shower facilities. We are now looking to the Lord to continue the refurbishment of our building to include a new larger meeting room and kitchen, all of which will make the building better equipped to meet the needs of the church as we reach out into the local community. The role of GBTC as advisors as we planned these refurbishments was also of great help."
The work starts with stripping the creche room back to bare brick, floor and ceiling joists
Work progresses with construction of internal walls and new doorways
